Welcoming 2025
Part of healing involves the processing of losses and, eventually, letting them go. This isn’t an easy task—grief has its own rhythm and cannot be rushed. Yet, as we stand on the threshold of a new year, it’s an invitation to gently reflect on what no longer serves us and to release it with grace.
Although you may still be waiting for your withdrawal to end, perhaps there are aspects of the past—moments, relationships, or expectations—you can begin to let go of. Losses for which you can allow yourself to grieve, not in resignation but as an act of self-compassion. With each small release, you make space for renewal, for fresh hope, and for the beautiful possibilities that lie ahead.
Here is an excerpt from Paulo Coelho’s Closing Cycles that I hope will resonate deeply with you as we prepare to welcome 2025 with open hearts:
“Closing cycles, shutting doors, ending chapters – whatever name we give it, what matters is to leave in the past the moments of life that have finished.
Let things go. Release them. Detach yourself from them. Nobody plays this life with marked cards, so sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. Do not expect anything in return. Do not expect your efforts to be appreciated, your genius to be discovered, your love to be understood.
Before a new chapter is begun, the old one has to be finished: tell yourself that what has passed will never come back. Remember that there was a time when you could live without that thing or that person. Nothing is irreplaceable. A habit is not a need. This may sound so obvious, it may even be difficult, but it is very important.
Closing some doors. Not because of pride, incapacity or arrogance, but simply because they lead you nowhere.”
As you reflect on this passage, consider what doors you might gently close this New Year’s Eve. What burdens can you set down? What chapters have finished, even if your heart still feels tied to their pages?
Healing is an unfolding, a tender process of surrendering what we cannot change and embracing what lies ahead. While letting go takes courage, it also brings the gift of lightness—a quiet clearing where new growth can take root.
May 2025 be a year of healing for you—a year of stepping forward with courage, grace, and the deep knowing that your journey is one of profound transformation. As you leave behind the weight of what has been, may you find hope, renewal, and peace waiting on the horizon.
Wishing you healing and light as you step into the New Year.
