Rediscovering Activity and Rewiring the Brain

As we journey through healing, something wonderful often begins to happen – we start to feel a spark and affinity for life’s activities returning within us. For many, as symptoms lessen, they feel a natural inclination urge to do more, to rediscover old interests or explore new ones. These actions – picking up a paintbrush, trying a new recipe, playing an instrument, reading a novel, solving word puzzles, or mindful walking and moving around more – all contribute to the brain’s rewiring process. The very essence of our being naturally inclines toward healing, growth, and adaptability, even in the smallest ways, and this drive is built into each of us.

Over the nearly two decades I’ve been supporting people, I’ve seen this innate healing process unfold in countless ways. Healing doesn’t depend on specialized courses or structured techniques. As time goes on and the body stabilizes, even those who are bedbound or sofa-bound feel a gentle stirring, a readiness to engage in activities that help bring their mind and body back to life. While neuroplasticity courses and exercises can certainly be helpful – and I share these practices through my own MASA Program – they are not the only path. Healing is inherently part of us; we all possess an amazing resilience and capacity to adapt, and that healing simply needs to be allowed to unfold in time.

For those who may feel discouraged by outside messages telling them they must do specific exercises or neuroplasticity programs to heal, I want you to know that the body is already working to restore balance. As symptoms ease, the brain naturally rewires through everyday activities – whether that’s enjoying a hobby, taking a gentle stroll, or learning something new. In time, these seemingly small steps become significant acts of healing.

Please remember, even if today you are unable to do much, healing is taking place. The human body has an incredible capacity to recover and adapt, even when we don’t always see or feel it. I’ve seen countless individuals heal fully, regardless of their starting point. Trust in your journey and know that, when the time is right, you’ll feel that spark of interest rekindling – in ways that are both gentle and profoundly transformative. Keep holding on; your healing path is unfolding just as it needs to.

With much compassion and belief in your healing,
